Condition: Surface grime, craquelure.

The artist was born in Maui, Hawaii, and is listed as American in the Getty Research Union List of Artist Names, but as Japanese in the Art Net database.

There are many dots of foreign substance along the top edge of the canvas, visible clearly under UV light, with one long drip on the right side extending from the top edge down to just outside the dune on the right. There are similar droplet marks on the left side, numbering about a dozen in all and extending from the u.l. corner down to the dune on the left. Other white dots in the sky, all of which seem to be dirt, rather than abrasions or scuffing.

Subtle stretcher bar marks with some resulting fine lines of craquelure, most particularly at u.l. edge, in the center, and along the lower edge with some minute paint losses. Other small, scattered small areas of craquelure that appear stable. Scattered minute paint losses overall.

There is water staining or similar to the reverse of the canvas.
