Kanani, Hawaii. Signed "John Kelly" in pencil l.r. and within the plate, titled ". KANANI . HAWAII ." in pencil l.l., inscribed "NO 26" in pencil l.c., artist's dry stamp l.c. Etching on paper, plate size 11 3/8 x 8 7/8 in. (28.7 x 22.4 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Margins over 2 1/4 inches.

Some soiling or stray ink marks outside the plate mark on the lower right side. Toning to the reverse, and with glue remnants from old hinges at the top edge of the reverse. When the print is held against a strong light source, some thinning of the paper is evident at the top edge of the reverse where old mountings were removed, along with a tiny spot of thinning in the margin below and to the right of the title inscription due to a small ding in the paper on the reverse. The thinning is not evident when the print is viewed from the front under normal viewing conditions.

The lot is accompanied by a detached label, probably trimmed from an old frame backing, inscribed in Hawaiian and signed and dated ".../John Kelly/March 31/38/Honolulu, Hawaii."
