N.B. In 1975, Nick Nixon photographed his wife and her three sisters, inaugurating an annual tradition that continues to this day. One picture is released each year, regardless of how many negatives are exposed, and the four sisters appear in the same order and look directly at the camera. The project is celebrating its 40th year, and while as a group the images capture the complexities of family relations, aging, and identity, this image, the first in the series, shows the sisters at the very beginning of this process.
Minor crease at u.l. corner. Very faint scratch (the emulsion is intact) above head of figure at left. Small dots of spot toning or similar in lower part of trousers of figure at left. Minor vertical crease at c.r. edge. No additional issues to report.
