Minor White (American, 1908-1976)

Untitled (Elie Nadelman Sculpture on Display in the Home of James Sibley Watson,Rochester, New York), mid-1950s to mid-1960s. Unsigned, stamped "MINOR WHITE/72 NORTH UNION ST./ROCHESTER 7, N.Y." in blue ink on the verso at center. Gelatin silver print, image size 8 3/16 x 6 3/16 in. (20.8 x 15.7 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Good.

N.B. A medical doctor by training, James Sibley Watson was also a filmmaker and co-owner and editor of the modernist literary magazine The Dial. Active supporters of the arts, Watson and his wife Hildegarde held an exhibition of paintings and sculpture in their Rochester home. Minor White, who lived in the city from 1953 to 1965, photographed the installation and additional interior views.
