Thirteen Hand-tinted Albumen Prints, 1880s-1890s. Subjects include geishas applying makeup, getting dressed, and playing instruments; portraits of sumo wrestlers, a tattooed man, basket vendor, and workers sewing; and exterior views of a dockyard, pleasure boat, and the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Unsigned, some with handwritten descriptive inscriptions on the verso. Albumen silver prints (eleven with hand-tinting),image/sheet sizes to 3 3/4 x 5 3/8 in. (9.5 x 13.7 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: All sheets are unmounted with fading, minor handling crimps, and wear at corners.
