Description:

Thirty Pieces of German Bird-decorated Porcelain, second half 19th to early 20th century, twenty-nine Meissen, with first quality crossed swords marks unless noted: twelve plates decorated with various hummingbirds or parrots to centers and with shaped borders and gilded rims, dia. 9 3/4, ten plates decorated with Herend-style birds and insects, dia. 8 7/8, six plates molded and pierced with a basketweave design and central bird decoration and additional birds to three cartouches around border (second quality marks),dia. 9 1/4, and an oblong compote (base with second quality mark, bowl unmarked),lg. 8 1/4; with a KPM leaf-form dish with Herend-style bird and insects, with scepter mark, lg. 10 in.
Estimate $400-600

All with very minor loss to enamel and gilt. Meissen: Three Herend-style plate with chip to footrim. Compote is a married piece; the bowl and foot are loosely joined together by a metal rod that is visible inside bowl, there is more gilt wear to this piece than the others, and a small hairline crack to the foot. KPM: With two short unobtrusive hairline cracks.
