Howard & Co. 14kt Gold Pocket Watch, No. 103225, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1880, the fully engraved hunter case marked Warranted 14 k US Assay inside rear lid, the front lid with blank cartouche, floral and leaf design on a stippled ground, the back fully engraved with floral and leaf design on a conforming ground, porcelain Roman numeral dial marked E. Howard & Co./Boston, sunk seconds and outer Arabic numeral minutes, three-quarter-plate jeweled nickel movement marked E. Howard & Co./Boston/103225/G, crown wind and lever set, 40 mm.

Watch in running condition. Note: watch is wound with the crown and set by opening the front lid and sliding the steel lever at the IIII o'clock position up, set the watch, and return the lever to original position. This method of setting avoids inadvertent setting of the watch while moving around in the vest pocket.
