Blount begins with the Pre-Socratics and gives biographical notes, synopses, quotes, and other information on the works of his selection of authors of note, right up to the "modern" writers of his own century: Thomas Hobbes, Thomas Willis, Hugo Grotius, Julius Caesar Scaliger, and others, with index.
