Note: Toshio Aoki is a Japanese nihonga artist who emigrated to San Francisco in the 1880s. His work has been recently shown in the exhibition Audacious Eye, held in 2014 at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the work entitled Shoki and Demons is in the collection of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
