Description:

Ulysses S. Grant Silk Memorial, c. 1880s, a wood-framed, embroidered silk memorial of President Grant in his casket, draped in an American flag, an angel directing two women, one representing the north, the other the south, above which is embroidered in gold LET US HAVE PEACE, below the casket in black is embroidered IN MEMORIAM U.S. GRANT, frame lg. 29 1/2, ht. 23 1/2 in.

Frame needs restoration and new glass, and the silk needs to be conserved, has some tears but nothing missing, and the embroidery is very well done.
