Napoleon III Silvered-bronze Centerpiece, Paris, c. 1870, Christofle, maker, numbered to underside "286396," with a Bacchanalian putto with grapes and two goats frolicking below a leafy stem, and single candle sconce mounted above a later, glass table surface, dia. 20 1/8, all raised on four faux-bois cast feet mounted with various leafy sprays, approx. total ht. 25 in.

Loss to much of the silvered surface. Lacking leaf element to one side. Lacking several screws from base (one leaf element loose to one side). Three components used to accomondate the later glass table surface also appear to be later (the brass circular platform, bolt to join platform and drip cup, and acanthus-decorated mount). The bobeche with damage to threads attaching to drip cup. Probably originally had a small glass or crystal element to the top.
