Description:

Reed & Barton Sterling Silver Corinthian Yacht Club Medal, Taunton, Massachusetts, c. 1919, the obverse with a sailboat and Pegasus surrounded by two dolphins and inscription, "Corinthian Yacht Club Class R Trophy Medal," the reverse with engraved inscription, "Season 1919/ Won by/ Gossoon/ Charles F. Adams 2nd," dia. 3 1/2 in., approx. 5.5 troy oz., in a fitted case.

N.B. Charles Francis Adams III (1866-1954) was a direct descendant of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. He was the Secretary of the Navy from 1929-1933 and the sailing master when Harpoon defeated Gloriana and Wasp for the Goulet Cup in 1892. He also defended the America's Cup.
