Description:

Two American Sterling Silver New York Yacht Club Trophies, Tiffany tankard with domed hinged cover, thumbpiece, tapered cylindrical body and colorless glass base, stepped foot, and engraved inscription, "Annual Cruise/ N. Y. Y. C. 1904/ Presented by/ Commodore F. G. Bourne/ to/ H. F. Lippitt, Esq./ Yacht Weetamoe/ Tie Race/ Weetamoe-Aspirant-Sybarita-Spasm," ht. 5 3/8; and an Alvin dish with lobed bowl and cast rim of shaped scrolls interrupted by flowerheads, with engraved inscription, "New York Yacht Club/ Annual Regatta/ Second Prize/ Won by/ "Banzai"/ 15 June 1905," dia. 8 3/8 in., approx. 7.1 troy oz.

N.B. Weetamoe was a Tobin bronze sixty-foot yacht designed by William Gardner. Her original owner was Henry F. Lippitt, Rhode Island senator from 1911-1917. Banzai was a New York Yacht Club thirty footer designed by Herreshoff in 1905 and originally owned by Newberry D. Lawton.
