Resht Embroidery, North Persia, late 19th/early 20th century, the red field depicting realistically drawn figures standing, kneeling, and on horseback amongst individual blossoming plants all embroidered in shades of light blue, blue-green, mint green, and aubergine within a main border of spaciously drawn floral palmettes, multiple minor borders, one with individual lozenges containing script, the others with a contiguous floral repeat, 9 ft. 4 in. x 5 ft. 4 in.
