The Goldsmith, 1655 (Bartsch, 123; Hind, 285; Hollstein, 123 i/ii). Collector's stamps to verso (see below). Etching on layered Japan paper, plate size 3 1/16 x 2 1/4 in. (7.7 x 5.4 cm),framed.
Condition: Margins 1/8 inch or more, several minute pale stains (more visible to verso),gentle toning.
Provenance: Johann Karl Brönner (German, 1738-1812) (Lugt, 307); probably bequested to the Museum of the City of Frankfurt through to the Städel c. 1870 [duplicate stamp from the Städelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt-am-Main (Lugt, 2396)]; through to J.E. de Wit (Portland, Maine, c. 1895) (Lugt, 1451).
