Description:

Queen Anne Walnut-veneered Slant-lid Desk, England, early 18th century, the lid enclosing various fitted compartments and a central well, with three lower frieze drawers and a shaped apron raised on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, ht. 40 1/2, wd. 36, dp. 19 in.
Estimate $1,500-2,500

Scattered minor cracking, patches, abrasions, lifting, and minor loss to veneer throughout. Larger patches to veneer along the top surface (front right corner),the fall front, and the interior along the hinges. Hinges and hardware replaced with veneer patches around those areas. Interior well cover replaced (slightly bowed). Outer right side panels with cracks through two panels. Small sections of molding along apron repaired or missing. Loss to right drawer side molding (present but loose). Two minor losses to molding along outer side of the stand. Minor worming and nicks to legs and feet. Usage wear to interior. Crack to back panel.
