Two Unframed 18th Century Works on Paper:

Attributed to Dominic Serres (French [working in England], 1722-1793),Rescue from Shore in Stormy Seas, unsigned, attributed on the window mat, watercolor and ink,
9 1/4 x 15 in. (23.6 x 37.5 cm),matted; Attributed to David Alphonse
de Sandoz-Rollin, (Swiss,1740-1809),Horsemen Crossing a River
, ink and wash, 9 x 13 3/4 in. (23.0 x 34.8 cm),matted.
Condition: Rescue with rippling at edges, tape-hinged to backing mat in two places on the reverse; Horsemen with minor staining and rippling, affixed to secondary paper support at each corner.

Provenance: Purchased from Colnaghi Gallery, London, in 1965 and 1955, respectively.

Image size is 8 3/16 x 11 3/4 in. The image is slightly left of center on the sheet, with notes in the right and lower margins.
