Elizabeth II Parcel-gilded Sterling Silver LibertyChess Pieces, London, 1973, James Goodbrand, maker, the pieces representing figures from the American Revolution, the gilt side with King George III, ht. 4 1/4, and Queen Charlotte, the bishops as Lord North and Edmund Burke, knights as ships' prows, rooks as turrets, and pawns as East India Company tea chests; the silver side with George Washington, ht. 4, Betsy Ross, bishops as Sam Adams and John Hancock, knights as Paul Revere on horseback, rooks as cupolas, and pawns as Native Americans, thirty-two pieces total, each side fitted in a wood case, approx. 301.4 troy oz.
Estimate $5,000-7,000

Scattered nicks, abrasions, and usage wear. Hancock with verdigris to back to head. No repairs. All with more tarnish to exposed side. Both cases with abrasions and scratches.
