White Marble Bust of Horace Greeley, the figure carved with signature facial hair and inscribed "J. DanL. Perry Sc. 1872," and resting atop a circular socle, bust ht. 23 1/2, total ht. 28 3/4 in.
N.B. The September 2, 1871, issue of The Brooklyn Eagle notes, "J. Daniel Perry, a Boston sculptor, is modeling a bust of Horace Greeley." This bust closely matches the bronze example atop Greeley's gravestone in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
