Description:

Wolfgang Schroth Sterling Silver Ship Model, Montville, New Jersey, second half 20th century, the sloop Azulejo with single mast, two sails, and rigging with polychrome enamel-decorated American flag, set between rolling waves, ht. 8 3/4, marked "Schroth" and "sterling," mounted to a verde marble base and with Plexiglas case, total ht. 13, wd. 9 5/8, dp. 6 5/8 in.

N.B. Wolfgang Schroth was a Tiffany & Co. silversmith before founding his own company manufacturing and retailing jewelry and silver. His firm supplied silver hollowware to Cartier for retail, including ship models. Schroth gifted this boat to the present owner's step-father as a thank-you for allowing Schroth free use of the Azulejo.
