Victorian Sterling Silver-mounted Glass Claret Jug, London, 1863-64, John Wilmin Figg, maker, Chapple & Mantell, retailer, the glass body with star-cut base and etched stars throughout, the mount to the neck with grotesque masks within a shield cartouche with pendant fruit, the lid with a lion rampant finial, and foot with masks and fruit, ht. 11 in.
Lion finial possibly missing shield. May have originally been gold-washed, only traces to interior lid and underside of foot remain. Minor usage wear throughout. Minor nicks to silver foot and underside of glass. Area within inner rim of lid with very minor metal fatigue (not visible)
