Lotte Jacobi (American, 1896-1990)

Albert Einstein, 1938, printed later. Signed "Lotte Jacobi" in pencil l.l. Gelatin silver print, 9 1/8 x 6 7/8 in. (23.2 x 17.5 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Handling crimp in sheet l.r.

Provenance: A private collection, New York.

N.B. After meeting Einstein at the family business--the fashionable Jacobi Studio in Berlin--Lotte Jacobi began a life-long friendship with the celebrated physicist, photographing him on five separate occasions, including this sitting at his home in Princeton, New Jersey, while on assignment for Life magazine.

Sheet size 13 7/8 x 10 7/8 in. (35.3 x 27.6 cm). The work is not mounted. There are no inscriptions/marks on the verso. The print fluoresces under black light. No additional condition issues to report.
