Russian Icon of the Pokrov, c. 1880, painted in miniature depicting the Virgin Mary with a gathering of saints on clouds in the Church of the Blachernae in Constantinople, at the center below is St. Romanos the Melodist, to the right the holy fool Andrey and to the left the Patriarch with the Emperor and Empress, 10 3/8 x 12 1/4 in.
Note: Exhibited in the Palekh Icon Exhibition at the Museum of Russian Icons in 2012.
