American School, 19th Century

Portrait of "Margaret Anna Jobs/Age 6 1838/Springfield, New Jersey," with HerSpaniel. Unsigned, titled on engraved brass plaque below. Oil on canvas, 29 1/2 x 36 1/2 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Canvas applied to panel, stable craquelure, scattered retouch.

Note: Margaret Anna Jobs was born on October 13, 1847 at Springfield, Union County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Dr. Eugene Jobs and Mary Lum Allen. Margaret married James McClintock Morrow on October 28, 1873, at Springfield, New Jersey and together they had three children. Margaret died on Oct 27, 1882, at South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, at age 35 and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, Union County, New Jersey.
