Louis Papaluca (Italian, 1890-1934)

Portrait of the Schooner Yacht MIGRANTin a Swell. Signed "L. Papaluca" l.r., titled MIGRANT. N.Y.Y.C. below. Gouache on paper, 19 x 27 3/4 in., in a later molded wood frame; accompanied by two framed photographs of the yacht, one showing the schooner at sea, and one likely taken in Venice. Condition: Two tears at c.l. and c.r.

Note: The New York Yacht Club schooner yacht Migrant was designed by Gillows of Lancaster, England, built by Lawley in Boston in 1929, and was owned by Carl Tucker.
Estimate $800-1,200

Tear c.l. about 2 in., , tear c.r about 3 in., 1 1/2 in. crease in skyabove bow, not examined out of frame but paper has a slight ripple so it doesn't appear to be laid down.
