Stiff, Stillwater, New Jersey, 1837, two-piece, double weave, wool and cotton coverlet composed of twelve oval floral medallions interspersed with nine floral diamond designs, with a border design of spreadwing eagles with "LIBERTY" inscribed above their heads, alternating with trees, with diamond chain edge border, two corner blocks with inscription "GIFT BY S. WILSON TO S.J. COX, STILLWATER 1837/J. STIFF WEAVER," applied fringe on one end, (scattered light stains, minor repairs, minor toning),80 x 79 1/2 in.
