Two Classical Figures at an Altar
Unsigned, ascribed to Donato Creti (Italian, 1671-1749) in an inscription on the
mat.
Graphite and ink wash on laid paper with watermark, 21 3/8 x 14 in. (54.4 x 35.6 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Scattered holes, repairs, center horizontal crease, staining to l.r. corner.

Repair to l.c. edge measuring 4 inches across and 1 1/8 in. high at its maximum, staining more pronounced to the l.r. corner, soiling to the corners, pronounced horizontal crease across center, creasing to l.l. corner, handling creases more noticeable to u.r.; reverse is inscribed "309" in blue ink. Staining and soiling to the reverse. Tape-hinged the full length of the right edge of the reverse (left side as one looks from the front).
