Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528)

Pilate Washing his Hands, from THE SMALL ENGRAVED PASSION, 1507-1512 (Bartsch, 11; Hollstein, 11; Meder, 11b/c). Monogrammed and dated within the plate, collector's annotations to verso. Engraving on laid paper, plate size 4 5/8 x 2 15/16 in. (11.6 x 7.3 cm), framed.
Condition: Thread margins, subtle toning and staining, hinges near each corner.

Provenance: Sotheby's New York, Sale 7835, Lot 28, November 7, 2002, to a private Massachusetts collection.
