Records from The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, indicate that the painting was loaned to the museum for general exhibition in their galleries in 1917 and 1922.

Small X-shaped area of craquelure or surface imperfection appearing as a dark line, about 1/2 inch long in both directions, located in u.r. corner with a small paint loss (1/16 in.) at that point. A similar craquelure or black line at center left measuring 1/2 inch. Small paint losses at the center of each side edge, probably from frame abrasion. These are hidden by the frame liner. Minor abrasions with minute paint losses to center right, between the tree and the right edge. Hairline crack to panel at lower left, about 1 inch long. Discolored varnish with areas of pooling and with pinpoint-sized accretions, appearing as small black dots, scattered overall, that appear to be in the varnish layer.
