Description:

Hammered Silver Necktie, Noma Copley, realistically designed as a gentleman's necktie, hand hammered, and joined to an adjustable neckring, lg. 15 1/2 in., no. 6/12 and signed Noma on a gold signature plaque to reverse.

Note: From the collection of Jean Stark, Co-Founder of the Kulicke-Stark Academy of Jewelry Art in New York City. She has significantly impacted jewelers across the country through teaching Ancient Jewelry Techniques at workshops hosted by: the Revere Academy in San Francisco; Florida Society of Goldsmiths; Georgia Goldsmiths Group and many others.

Noma Copley (1916-2006) had no formal training in metalsmithing and did not begin making jewelry until she was fifty years old. Of her work, Copley stated, "Surrealist inspired and influenced I, for a long time, tried to transform the everyday, the common objects, that are taken for granted into poetry to wear."
