Description:

Blue Transfer-decorated Staffordshire Pottery Pitcher and Platter, England, early 19th century, a pitcher depicting an English castle with "States" border, bust of Washington, and figure of America blindfolded, by Clews, Cobridge, 1819-36, and an oblong platter depicting "Lake George/State of New York" by Enoch Wood, Burslem, with shell border, printed title and impressed maker's mark on reverse, (pitcher with hairline, scattered glaze losses on platter),pitcher ht. 9 3/4, platter 13 x 16 3/4 in.
Estimate $400-600

Pitcher with hairline under spout, about 4 in. from base and extending about 3 in. into base, platter has numerous small nicks and scratches to blue underglaze.
