Description:

Fruitwood Melon-form Tea Caddy with Spoon, England, late 18th century, incised lines dividing contrasting light and dark stained fruitwood, with steel escutcheon and iron stem, the interior containing a plated silver caddy spoon with shell-shaped bowl, (old patch repair above hinge),ht. 5 3/8 in.

Note: A typewritten label affixed to the interior lid states: "Used during the Revolutionary War. Owned by Mrs. Samuel Arment of Boston, Mass..."

Patch repaired area on exterior abover rear hinge about 1 1/4 x 1 7/8 in.
