Peterborough, New Hampshire, Needlework Sampler, "Thirza Maria Simmons/Born Jan 30th 1832/Peterborough NH," stitched with silk threads on a linen ground, with rows of alphabets over maker's statistics, with zigzag border, (fading, light stains),7 x 12 in., in a later carved wood frame.

Note: Thirza Simmons was the fifth child of William and Eliza (Waite) Simmons of Peterborough, New Hampshire. She married John S. Blake on June 4, 1850.
