Two Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Needlework Samplers, both samplers stitched with silk threads on a linen ground and centered with a similar Tudor Rose design and with strawberry and clover borders; the first sampler with inscriptions "Sophia Seymour's Sampler Wrought in the 12th year of her age/Stockbridge/Oct 19 [17]98" with rows of alphabets, a pious verse, and birds on trees, (fading, toning, fraying),21 x 17; the other with faded inscription "Mary Bears sampler/worked in the 10th year of her age 1790 Stockbridge M," above a needleworker's verse, (fading, toning),13 1/2 x 12 1/2 in., both in later mahogany veneer frames.
