Pieced Silk Brocade and Embroidered Velvet Geometric Star Quilt, Tennessee, c. 1909, taking first prize in Nashville at the 1909 Tennessee State Fair, the quilt is centered with a hexagonal green velvet panel embroidered with a basket of flowers enclosed in a garland of fruit and flowers stitched with gold silk threads, surrounded with pieced silk and velvet segments forming a large six-point star, on a green silk brocade ground interspersed with pink flower sprigs and green leaves, with four similarly pieced silk and velvet four-point designs in the four quadrants, enclosed in striped sawtooth borders and red silk edging, backed with lightweight woven red wool fabric, stitched with diamond and parallel line quilting, with blue first prize ribbon attached to the front, (fraying on edging),84 x 72 in.

The quilt later protected/reinforced on the back with off-white muslin, hand-stitched with a strip of velcro attached for hanging.
