Framed Watercolor Memorial to a Fallen Revolutionary Soldier andLithograph-printed Sailor's Valentine, the memorial watercolor and ink on paper, depicting an urn-topped monument inscribed "Sacred to the memory of Mr. Daniel Hobert who was slain at White Plains oct. 29, 1776 AE 28 years," reportedly painted by the fallen soldier's wife Keziah upon her husband's death which occurred during the New York and New Jersey campaign of the American Revolutionary War fought on October 28, 1776, near White Plains, New York, the tale of his death is penned by the great-granddaughter of the couple and mounted in the frame below the memorial, (imperfections),overall 19 x 11; and a small printed sailor's valentine with hand-coloring on embossed paper, (toning, stains),7 3/4 x 5 in.

Note: An inscription on the backboard of the memorial reads: "Purchased from the Estate of Edna Greenwood, Timestone Farm, Marlboro, Mass. 1/4/94"; Edna Greenwood (1888-1972) was a mentor of Nina Fletcher Little (1903-1993),the renowned folk art collector and writer, who was married to Edna's cousin Bertram K. Little (1899-1993).

The memorial has creases, a few tears, several losses, and toning, and is possibly glued to the cardboard backing.
