Portrait of Daniel Finn Seward, Aged 3 1/2 Years, of Middletown, New York, 1855. Unsigned, the stretcher inscribed "D.F. Seward. 3 1/2 Years. 1855." Oil on canvas, 36 x 29 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Minor retouch, patch repair c.r., a few minute punctures.

Note: A note attached to the stretcher indicates Daniel was born December 12, 1851, the son of Augustus and Sarah Ann (Finn) Seward. Augustus was the Presbyterian minister in Middletown, New York.

Two small punctures u.r. , two u.c., and one just to left of left side of head, the patch repair is about 2 x 4 in. and is located on the back frame of chair.
