Signed and dated "Calder 75" l.r.
Gouache on paper, 23 x 50 5/8 in. (58.3 x 77.8 cm), framed.
Condition: Small (3/16 in.) tear to edge of paper in l.r. corner, subtle rippling and toning, handling creases, scattered water spots, sheet affixed to backing mat at intervals along the perimeter.
Provenance: From the estate of the artist to M. Knoedler & Co., Inc., New York, to Dr. Michael Dertouzos in 1978, then by family descent to the current owner.
N.B. The work is registered with the Calder Foundation, Application No. A26002. The lot is accompanied by a copy of the purchase invoice from M. Knoedler & Co., Inc., New York, dated July 12, 1978.
Handling creases primarily to top center. Scattered water spots measuring 3/8 to 1/2 in. diameter. Paper with partial watermark, "MADE IN FRANCE" and with three flowers. Unable to examine the back of the sheet.
