Oil on canvas, 20 x 27 in. (50.8 x 68.6 cm),stretched with Boston tabs, in a period R.C. Vose Arts & Crafts frame.
Condition: Craquelure, minor surface grime.

Provenance: From the estate of Gertrude F. Shelley, Boston and South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, acquired prior to 1951.

Frame dated, monogrammed and inscribed "19 JE 49/R.C.VOSE, BOSTON/No. JE 1234" on the frame reverse. Stretcher incised with the number "R-3564" on the upper bar on the right.

Small, old patch reinforcement to canvas reverse at the lower left, the patch measuring 1/2 in. diameter; corresponding to a small repair on the front in an area of dark grass at the lower right corner, displaying as a smooth area measuring 1/4 in. diameter, located 4-1/2 inches in from the right edge and 2-1/2 inches up from the bottom edge. The area does not fluoresce noticeably under UV light, but is visible in raking light due to the subtle change in the texture of the canvas surface and slight change of color.
