Quarter-plate Daguerreotype Portrait of Two Young Women, in a brown "Bountiful Harvest" (Krainik 47) Union case, with embossed red velvet case pad "J.H. WHITEHURST GALLERIES/NEW YORK/WASHINGTON D.C./BALTIMORE/RICHMOND/NORFOLK/PETERSBURG & LYNCHBURG," (edges tarnished, spiders, dust, scattered scratches, wipes u.r. and l.l.).
Note: Jesse Harrison Whitehurst (1823-1875) was working in the Baltimore area in the 1850s and 1860s as a daguerreotypist, photographer, and entrepreneur.

Approx. 1/3 x 5/8 in. wipe l.l. on left woman's lap, slight wipe just right of right woman's head, scratches are fairly light.
