Gurley Engineers Transit, Troy, New York, c. 1900, 5 1/2-in. silvered compass marked as above, fleur-de-lis representing north, scale divided in four quadrants, dual spirit levels, enclosed horizontal scale with vernier divided 80-90-80, A-frame supports with an 11 1/2-in. scope, rack focusing, horizontal silvered scale, all on four adjustable screw feet, in a fitted mahogany case with label, and tripod instrument ht. 14 in.

Note: This transit was used in Albany New York Capital Repertory Theater's presentation of the play Terra Nova by Ted Tally, during its 2000/2001 season, photo accompanies lot.
