Description:

Ten-panel Screen with Plum Blossoms, Korea, 19th century, ink and color on paper, depicting plum trees full of white blossoms, dated (1886) and signed by Park Hongseop (courtesy name: Seokha),with three seals, calligraphy over two panels, 44 1/2 x 12 1/2 in.

Provenance: From a private collection in Leonia, New Jersey. Similar examples include an eight-panel screen by Yu Suk (1827-1873) at Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, dated to 1868.

Multiple signs of deteriorations; foxing in progress; molds; torn along the edges of some panels; backing detached due to low humidity level
