British Reverse-painted Glass Chess Table, signed and dated "A. Barbara Leslie 1974" in one corner, with accompanying letter from A. Barbara Leslie identifying the artist as Grace Hosking and label underneath from Shal Design listing Leslie as the designer and Hosking as the painter, the hardwood table with glass tabletop framed in brass and decorated with the thirty-two characters of the game in the style of the court of German Emperor Maximilian I (1486-1519),along with scenes from woodcuts of Albrecht Durer and Books of Hours, accompanied by a complete Alice in Wonderland-themed chess set, the resin pieces in shades of peach and mint green (breaks, damage),table ht. 15 7/8, lg. 40 1/4, wd. 24 in.
