Reclining Nude. Signed "L. Lucioni" l.l., inscribed "Finger Painting by/Luigi Lucioni/Shaw Studio 1933/N.Y.C." in pencil on the frame backing. Finger paint on paper, sight size 14 x 17 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Tears, water damage, rippling.

N.B. Ruth Faison Shaw (American, 1888-1969) was an educator, art therapist, artist, writer, and lecturer, who rediscovered the art of finger painting in 1926 in Rome. Founder of the Shaw Finger-Paint Studio in New York City, she integrated the art form into 20th-century art education and psychiatric therapy. The Shaw Finger Paint Collection included works by Luigi Lucioni, Leon Dabo, Grant Wood, and others.
