Pavel Andreevich Shuvalov (1776-1823), the mezzotint "published August 1, 1825 for the Proprietor by Mess.rs Colnaghi," framed, plate size 13 3/4 x 9 3/4 in.

Provenance: Purchased from Grosvenor Prints, London, as Ex-collection of the Honorable Christopher Lennox-Boyd.

N.B. George Dawe's painting was commissioned by Tsar Alexander I to commemorate the senior military staff who defeated Napoleon during the French invasion of Russia in 1812. Over 300 such portraits hang in the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg.
