Unsigned, identified on a presentation plaque and a label from the St. Botolph Club,
Boston, affixed to the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 11 3/4 x 13 7/8 in. (29.8 x 35.2 cm), in a Hermann Dudley Murphy for Carrig-Rohane Shop Inc./R.C. Vose Arts & Crafts frame.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, minor skinning.
Exhibitions: Romance of the Sea, St. Botolph Club, Boston, April 10 to June 7, 2002.
Frame inscribed "19 M 29/Carrig-Rohane Shop Inc./R.C. VOSE/#5105" on the frame reverse.
Retouch consisting of a thin vertical line of 5 inches at the left center edge; scattered small dots to fill craquelure; a 1 x 1 inch area to strengthen the top sail on the foremast of the ship to the left, with some other dots clustered around the top of the mast, the largest spot in this area measuring 1/4 inch; a 1/8 inch dot between the two figures on the boat to the lower left.
