Votive Paintings of Shinto Kami, Japan, possibly 14th century, depicting a male Shinto deity dressed in the formal garb of the court and three female deities dressed in Buddhist robes, each holding a fan, biwa, and fly whisk, all seated in two tiers in a shrine adorned in the Kamakura-period style, a lion-dog with horn and shishi lion with open mouth on the left and right of the lower tier, respectively, two guardian dogs facing each other to the bottom tier, 55 1/2 x 30 1/2 in.
