Four Derbyshire Porcelain Figures, England, late 18th century, The Four Quarters of the Globe, polychrome enamel decorated and gilded representations of Europe, Africa, Asia, and America, each modeled standing on freeform rococo bases, ht. 8 1/4 to 8 7/8 in.
Europe: Losses to a finger on each hand and to bocage at either side, missing sceptre; old repairs to crown, raised arm, other hand at wrist.
Africa: Losses to part of lobster and bocage, missing cornucopia; old repairs to elephant's trunk and tusks, both arms; small scattered chips.
Asia: Old repairs through at neck, fingers of raised hand, tail; hairline to one shoulder.
America: Losses to bocage, missing the long-bow; old repairs to feathered headdress, through at neck, each shoulder, fingers of each hand, and to chips of feathered skirt; scattered chips.
