In this document, Jean is begging for tax money on behalf of "Charles the Mad" to fund the monarch's extensive wars, including the Hundred Years' War with England. Probably psychotic, the French king would sometimes claim that his name was George, or that he was made of glass, taking pains to protect himself against breakage.
