Chinese Export Reverse Painting on Glass and Engraved Prototype, early 19th century, both after the painting by Henry Fuseli depicting Hamlet, act I, scene iv, the reverse painting in giltwood frame, sight size 19 3/4 x 25 1/2; the late 19th century mezzotint a reprint from John Boydell's collection of Shakespeare prints, framed, plate size 9 1/2 x 25 in.
Provenance: Purchased from the Chinese Porcelain Company, New York, in 1998.
N.B. Featured in the exhibition Chinese Glass Painting & Export Porcelain at the above gallery in 1996, and included in the catalogue of the same name, figs. 19 and 19a.
